Irishman Sean McGowan achieves his life dream

As part of his solo row across the Atlantic Ocean, Irishman Sean McGowan raised a staggering €23,178 for Soweto Connection and their partner group in South Africa, Philani. This will help build a brand new Nutrition and Education Centre in the township of Khayelitsha outside Cape Town.

Schoolchildren sent their support to Sean

Schools all over the country recorded songs, shouts, riddles and messages of encouragement to Sean. Sean really appreciated hearing these as he rowed the ocean, and they gave him the encouragement he needed when times were hard.

The kids in Khayelitsha township outside Cape Town also recorded a song they'd written especially for Sean, and sent a video of themselves dancing and singing for him. You can see it on the website here
