The members of Ballyneety Foróige Club in Limerick have planned a series of fundraising events to raise money for Soweto Connection, including a church gate collection and a raffle. They have already collected donations by promoting the cause amongst family and friends, and have given their own money from the club.
The Club also contributed sets of jerseys to the "Jerseys for Africa" appeal. These have already been given to clubs and schools in the Rini and Tshepisong townships in South Africa.
For their efforts, the club were awarded a 2006 Young Citizenship award. Aoife Maloney (pictured second from the left in the photograph below) accepted this from Predident Mary McAleese on March 14th.
