Congratulationa and well done to Ballyneety Foróige Club, who in their second year, raised a total of €768.72 for Soweto Connection. The money, which was raised in April and May of this yea came from a raffle, Community Sports Day shop and other activities. It was a fantastic fundraising effort, and great credit is due to everyone involved for the effort.
The group expressed the wish that most ofthe money raisedt go towards finishing work on a Centre for children affected by AIDS. The Centre, which we have been helping to fund already, is in the Tshepisong township and is being run by a group called the Power of Women and Children (PWC). We transferred just over €600 of their money to PWC where it was used to provide fittings, fencing and gates for the Centre, so that it is a secure and comfortable Day Care Centre for the children.
The rest of the money went towards providing for families affected by HIV/AIDS in other areas. It pays school and crèche fees for orphaned children, and helps to provide food and other essential items for them.
Once again well done to the Youth Club and their leaders. The money raised really makes a difference to so many people who might otherwise have nothing to keep them alive and safe.
