Carol from the Mokone Memorial HIV/AIDS Program wrote the following note of thanks to Soweto Connection ... |
Let me say thank you to the people of Limerick, Ireland for their kind support of our HIV/AIDS Ministry here in Pimville, Soweto. I thank God for friends like you who have decided to help this ministry of outreach sight unseen.
|
|
| And she gave the following background to their work ... |
- We started this ministry four years ago and we are not and have not been receiving any help from the SA Government.
- Most of the donations that we have received in the past have come from the USA.
- Mokone Memorial AMEC have supported this ministry with approximately R200,000.00 since its inception (1998 – present)
We have paid for the training of 12 volunteers from the church to service these programs, and intend to train as many more as is needed. We have recently inquired about the cost of office space, (R5,000.00 p/month) and we desperately need office supplies and equipment so that we can more adequate meet the demands that have come as a result of this program.
